South west

Welcome to the South West!! In the South West we are lucky in having two EFFP staff members, Neil Adams and myself. I work with FCBs and groups of farmers in the region and Neil combines working with farmer groups with work on EFFP Business Development Services.

EFFP provides the Collaboration Service to the South West Rural Enterprise Gateway Programme in the South West and we have helped over 30 farmer groups to develop collaborative activity in the past two years. The range of collaborative activity is vast ranging from adding value to red meat and sheep improvement through to the development of local food supply networks and on farm production collaboration.

I have been working recently with one of the milk supply co-ops and a regional livestock marketing co-op to develop a joint venture to market cull cows which will benefit both groups. This venture is being launched at the Royal Cornwall Show in 2007.

I am also working on a project to improve the efficiency of collaborative farm input supply. We are now working with individual FCBs in the South West assisting them to devise strategies to meet future challenges in this sector.
