Siôn Roberts was a founding Director of EFFP in 2003 and has been its Chief Executive since its launch. He trained as an economist and has been involved for 20 years in analyzing major strategic issues across the farming and food industry.
He started his career working as a commodity trader with Bunge & Co, a South American Commodities House, based in the City of London. Following that, as Chief Economist at the NFU, he provided analysis and advice on the key issues facing the farming industry through the 1990s.
After leaving the NFU in 2001 he was attached to the Cabinet Office and acting as the economic adviser to the Policy Commission on the Future of Farming and Food, or Curry Commission, was instrumental both in developing the analysis that lay behind the Commission's proposals and in writing the final report to government.
Siôn was a member of the Agricultural Wages Board for five years and is currently a director of the Oxford Farming Conference.
