Advantage West Midlands

EFFP & the West Midlands

Developing collaborative supply chain in the West Midlands

Our partners

EFFP have been chosen by the Rural Development Agency, Advantage West Midlands (ADW), to deliver a programme that will encourage collaboration in agricultural supply chains. The project is funded by the Rural Development programme and will be completed in July 2012.

The programme

This three-year project will enable the development of collaborative supply chain propositions assisting farmers and other food businesses to improve their efficiency, profitability and sustainability through closer working relationships. These proposals may, if successfully developed, result in a RDPE application.

The objective is to create a supply ‘push’ and demand ‘pull’. This will be achieved through a range of interactive communications, including workshops, seminars and individual business meetings to identify and subsequently develop opportunities.

A regional facilitation/aftercare service will be set up to address all the barriers to collaboration. This will be delivered using EFFPs existing suite of services. All potential applicants for public funds considering the development of collaborative activity will be offered a facilitation service to provide assistance in the development of their collaborative plans.

How we can help

The project will develop new/re-engineered supply chains within the farming and food sector.  The primary focus will be on a range of supply chains which dovetail with AWM's strategic goals for the region.

Amongst others these include:

  • Red Meat
  • Fresh Produce
  • Collaborative Grain Storage
  • Public Sector Food Procurement
  • Combinable Crops
